The Value of One-Way Video Conferencing

At Sidewalk Technologies, we believe that if you can’t meet in person, a two-way video conference provides the closest thing to an in-person experience, however sometimes parties involved don’t want to enable their video. I encourage you to keep your video on because a one-way video conference can still provide a lot of value.

Enabling your video allows your customers, clients or team members to see you, your team, your passion, your engagement and read your social cues. Because of this the relationship will benefit and your communication will be more effective.

In short, one-way video conferences improve half of the conversation. At minimum your viewers get the benefit of seeing you. While it may feel a little weird, it can still be beneficial because it improves communication and humanizes everyone in front of the camera. And, maybe seeing you helps convince them that they should be on camera, because now they see the value in seeing your face, and reading your body language and social cues and decide to reciprocate with their own video.
